Albion’s Premier League Season Comparison – 15 games

Published on: Author: Jon Want

While the result at Stamford Bridge was disappointing, it was another decent display from the Baggies that almost succeeded in keeping out the best team in the Premier League at the moment, and they have the opportunity to bounce back against Swansea on Wednesday, a side that have picked up just one point on the road since the opening day.

Albion’s record this season remains their second best in the Premier League and they have never conceded so few goals after 15 games. 18 conceded is remarkable when you consider that four of those came in one game and Albion have have had just three clean sheets, conceding more than one goal on just four occasions. Coupled with that, only once have Albion scored more goals at this stage and they are the only club in the Premier League outside the top six with a positive goal difference.

Looking ahead to game 16, the Baggies have never lost their 16th game when it has taken place at the Hawthorns, and only once have they failed to win it, a 1-1 draw with Portsmouth in 2008. On the flip side, three years ago game 16 proved to be Steve Clarke’s last game in charge, a 1-0 defeat at Cardiff. I don’t think Tony Pulis need worry about that fate even if Albion were to lose to the other side from his native land.
