Finally, the winless league run is over, and the Baggies are now on a winning run of two games in all competitions!
In their first match of September last year, West Bromwich Albion travelled to the Amex Stadium sitting in fifth place in the table, unbeaten so far this season, to take on newly-promoted Brighton and Hove Albion who sat in 17th place with just one point to their name.
In a welcome break to the Premier League, the struggling Baggies make just their third ever visit to the other St James’s Park as they visit Exeter City for a third round FA Cup tie.
It may be a new year but it brought no change to Albion’s fortunes as they were defeated once again in the first match of 2018. The defeat leaves them four points from safety as the Hammers move out of the drop zone thanks to the 94th minute winner.
West Bromwich Albion kick off the New Year with a trip to the London Stadium in the hope that 2018 will be a lot better than 2017 eventually turned out. It is a massive game for both clubs with Albion just one place and two points behind West Ham.
