After the impressive victory at the home of the champions last time out, it could be said that the international break came at the wrong time for Albion but, the two Scotland players aside, it’s not been a bad week for the international Baggies.
As I said in my article on Saturday, Pulis normally gets a result when he needs one. He definitely needed one against Leicester and Phillips’ winner provided it.
After successive matches against three of this season’s top five, Albion take a trip to the home of the reigning champions on Sunday on a run of five games without a win, and having managed just two wins in their last nineteen Premier League games.
Albion’s run of five games without a win means that their comparison record has plummeted such that only in seasons 04/05 and 05/06 did they have fewer than their current total of 10 points from 10 games.
At the start of the season, few would’ve expected Albion to go into this fixture on better form than Manchester City, but based on the last six results, that is indeed the case.
The last four seasons have seen the Baggies win their tenth game of the season – could they carry on that run at home to league leaders Manchester City at the Hawthorns?
