After each Premier League game I will be showing how Albion have fared at the same stage of each Premier League season, both in terms of the number of games played, and based on the equivalent fixtures completed.
Monday’s defeat to City was Albion’s worst home start to a Premier League season, although somewhat better than the 6-0 drubbing we received at Stamford Bridge on the opening day in 2010. Both games left us bottom of the league after one game. Only once have Albion won their opening game of a Premier League season – against Liverpool in 2012.
To provide every fixture with an equivalent from last season, the newly promoted sides are paired with the relegated sides based on finishing position. That pairs last season’s trip to Turf Moor as the equivalent fixture from last season for next weekend’s trip to newly promoted Watford.
