Fifty percent of the season is completed and Albion sit on 23 points, a total only bettered by their best ever season in 2012/13 when they sat on 33 points in 6th place.
In their nine Premier League seasons to date, the Baggies have won more points in the second half of the season on five occasions, the same number of points once (2013/14) and fewer points three times in 2002/03, 2005/06 and, of course, in that record season 2012/13 when they got just 16 points from the last 19 games.
Albion’s record total for the last 19 games is 27 points achieved last season – a repeat of that this season would give the Baggies a record Premier League total of 50 points. The lowest total points achieved in the second half of the season was in the “Great Surrender” season of 2005/06 which saw Albion gain only 11 points in their final 19 games. Mind you, that’s still three more than Villa have managed in their first 19 games this season!
