And so the season comes to an end with another disappointing result for the Baggies, conceding twice in the last twenty minutes to lose a game they had largely controlled up to that point.
Having reached 40 points at the end of February, the last twelve games brought just one win and two draws, with the final eight games producing just one solitary point. From what looked like being a record-breaking season for Albion, it has ended up being their fourth best season in terms of points, and the only record that was broken was the club record for consecutive league defeats!
One positive for Tony Pulis is that he has finally guided a team to a top-half finish in the Premier League, but he’s done nothing to dispel the idea that his teams give up after reaching 40 points.
On the face of it, a tenth place finish for West Bromwich Albion is a decent result, but the performance in the first six months of the season promised so much more.
