Back-to-back wins against Stoke City! The last time Albion won two consecutive league games against the Potters was 27 years ago in 1988, the second of which was a somewhat more impressive 6-0, although wins in the FA Cup in 1998 and the league in 2003 were in consective fixtures against the Potters albeit five years apart.
Both of those “doubles” were in consecutive home games, however, and you have to go back a further 11 years to get consecutive wins including one away from the Hawthorns when Alvion last did the double over Stoke in the 1976-77 season. Anyway, have we heard the last of the “We always beat West Brom” chant from the Clayheads?
Strangely enough, in terms of points, it is now our joint second best start to a Premier League season, and third-best when you include goal difference behind 2012/13 and 2008/9. Given the contrasting experiences of those seasons, it’s safe to say that it’s early days yet!!
